Advice and Decisions

Throughout your life, both in business and personally, you will be faced with challenges, and many times you will need to seek advice to help determine the best way forward. Seeking advice is not something that should be taken lightly. How do you determine who you should ask for advice? This is a very important first step.

Clearly understanding the problem is crucial, and the way you present it matters as well. Do you know someone who has experience in your area of concern, and do you know and respect this person? If you don’t know someone directly, do you know a trusted person who might, and can you ask them for a referral or introduction? In my opinion, two opinions are better than one, especially if the situation is complex or potentially harmful to your health or business.

When the appropriate person is identified, contact them and request a meeting, explaining the issue and that you would appreciate their input and recommendations. Once you receive their input and recommendations, take your time to analyze them and make the appropriate decisions. You know your business best, so do what is in the best interest of yourself, your family, your employees, your customers, your clients, and so on.
